Allen Key Won T Fit In Truss Rod

Hey i got a fender mexican jazz bass somewhat recently and noticed it needed a truss rod adjustment but the allen wrench that came with it wouldn t fit.

It fits well on the sides but won t drop into the recess. Right before you try the hot wrench trick find a flat blade screwdriver that s a bit smaller than 1 8 jam it in there and turn it a few times to dig the gunk out of the hole without chewing up the sides.
